Pathways to the sacred and the profound.
At Front Porch we recognize that not everyone has a religion, but everyone is spiritual. Through our spirituality, we seek and express meaning and purpose, and connect to the moment, to self, to others, to nature and to the significant or sacred.
We believe that aging is a spiritual journey. And the spiritual journey needs to be intentionally addressed in everyone’s aging life. When we consider issues of the spirit, we transform how we care for older adults, and are holistic in our approach to wellness.
The California Lutheran Homes Center for Spirituality and Aging (Southern California) and the Sunny View Center for Aging and Spirituality (Silicon Valley) were created to inspire caregivers to listen to and address people’s spiritual needs. We provide resources and education for those who work with older adults, both inside and outside our retirement communities and in congregations.
From foundational courses on basic gerontological concepts to practical workshops on integrating spirituality into a community’s activities programming, we offer both the context and the tools to explore and encourage the many pathways to the sacred and the profound.
The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.
Our Centers extend the ways that Front Porch cares and creates community. By encouraging people’s spiritual journeys, we help them create meaningful connections in their lives, and to discern what it is that gives them that “deep gladness.”
